ExpenseGhost categorizes most transactions on its own. The ones it isn't sure about, it sets aside for you instead of guessing wrong. Clearing that pile once is what turns "mostly automatic" into "I barely touch it."

Work the review queue

Open Needs review. Everything the classifier couldn't place with confidence is here. For each one, confirm the category and the account it should post to. The more you confirm, the better it gets at your specific spending — that coffee shop you bill as a client meeting, the subscription that's really software.

Aim for an empty queue on day one. After that, only genuine edge cases surface, and the queue stays short.

See the full picture

Every synced transaction lives under Transactions, not just the uncertain ones. Open the ledger view on any line to see the debits and credits behind it, which is handy when you want to check how something actually posted to your books.

Once the queue is clear, your books are caught up. The next step is the part you've been waiting for: seeing what it all adds up to.
